Community Voices Help Shape Services for Milwaukee County Older Adults.

Milwaukee County’s population of older adults age 60+ is the largest in the state. By 2040,
the number of older adults will increase by 30% to 176,000 individuals, including nearly
30,000 individuals age 85 years and older. Many of these older adults rely on their local
communities for support – how will we respond to these growing numbers of older adults?

Listening Sessions

Eras Senior Network held six listening sessions and one focus group to
discuss the needs of older adults in Milwaukee County. Sessions were conducted by a
professional facilitator who guided attendees through questions and activities related to
services needed by older adults and how to best provide those services in the future.
Survey: An online survey was conducted for community members who wished to share
their thoughts and were unable to attend a listening session. Milwaukee County older
adults were asked to provide their input as well.  Surveys and postage paid return envelopes
were mailed to 4,700 older adults in July.  Analysis of the responses will be included in the
report to the community.

Feedback

An executive summary of the feedback given at the listening sessions will be
available this fall.
